Review: Courtyard Palo Alto Los Altos
This Courtyard is located on busy El Camino Real just outside of Palo Alto, CA. Now that the economy is back in shape and the VC money flowing again - hotel rates have skyrocketed. The hotel regularly sells out at rates around $300-$350/week night. This is not bad for a suburban, not full service, hotel.
Luckily the owners have decided to re-invest some of these profits into the hotel.
Check-In was very quick and I was informed that there would be no upgrades available for Silver members. I'm not even sure if there are rooms to be upgraded to at the property though.
The room itself was large and featured a ADA compliant bathroom.
All room amenities worked flawlessly - the Internet was really fast, the AC/heater quiet and quick to respond.
I really liked the lobby area with a huge, warm fire place, a big HDTV screen and lot's of seating options. I did hang out there several nights - much nicer than using the room.
I also loved the courtyard area - it reminded my of the very tastefully done Courtyard Kauai. Lots of palm trees, fire pits and 2 hot tub besides the small pool. The November nights are chilly in Northern California and the outdoor area was a fantastic place to hang out after work.
The breakfast is ala carte and has a number of really good items on sale. Prices are very reasonable i.e. where can you get a large toasted bagel for $2.25?
The staff was friendly and always able to help quickly. They are really empowered and encouraged. Very different than in my last stay at a nearby Hyatt (more about that soon)
Parking in the underground garage is free too.
I used free night certificates at the hotel. They gave me exceptional value given the enormous rates that the property charges.
This hotel certainly contributed to my newfound love with Marriott.
