I decided to spend one night since I needed one more 'Saturday stay' for my Big Win promotion. The building is part of a new development facing Sukhumvit Road and Soi 22.
The overall impression when I arrived was fantastic - I really liked the grey polished look. Check-in in Thailand always takes extra time with the staff filling out forms and making copies of passports. The check-in staff was friendly as can be though. After about 10 minutes I was on to my room.
The hotel offers a Happy Hour for Platinum members and has free non-alcoholic drinks during the day for Platinum guests.
The lobby and the elevator/ rooms seemed brand new. The rooms was rather large and match the design elements used in the lobby very well. The AC was quiet, the lights easy to control and there were enough outlets for all my electronic devices.
The room was on the 24th floor and had gorgeous views over Bangkok.
In the morning I walked down for breakfast and was initially very impressed by the presentation and quantity of items. However my impression changed after i tried some of the items - low quality food that offered no positive surprises to my taste buds unfortunately.
As part of my challenge I had booked a Best Flexible Rate with breakfast - but that breakfast was certainly not worth paying $22 for. There is a 'Coffee Beans and Tea Leaf' in the lobby that offers a much better, simpler breakfast for less.
I had a peek at the swimming pool that is located on the 8th floor as well. It looked really fantastic.
Conclusion
It's a very well designed hotel with a great location near the Terminal 21 shopping mall and right at the BTS Skytrain station. It looks fantastic and the staff is accommodating.
However do not plan on eating in the hotel - you will be disappointed. The Sukhumvit area provides for endless breakfast, lunch and dinner options within 10 minutes walk who will give you a much better sampling of the great local cuisine.
The hotel is pricey given comparable options around. So make sure there is a promotion that makes it 'worth' spending that extra money.
