For my 10-hour layover, I needed a hotel close to Abu Dhabi International Airport. The hotel that's part of the airport is the Premier Inn, but it was sold out for that night. I had no real expectations (or need) for any hotel and booked the Novotel for $100 incl taxes.
The taxi ride to the hotel was just about 10 minutes, but given the high AED 25 departure fee that taxis make you pay for the convenience of leaving the airport, it was a total of $17 in taxi costs.
The hotel is a stand-alone development with an Ibis and sits well near the freeway.
Check-in was quick and friendly.
The room was well-furnished and of a good size. It did not feel spartan (as you may expect from a Novotel). The WiFi was fast and to my surprise, the pool bar featured a rather big and lively birthday party at 11PM.
The AC made the room feel like a fridge (we are talking 50s) and I shut it off to stay alive.
The breakfast was rather good with a number of high quality items.
The hotel is a good option for a quick stopover at Abu Dhabi Airport. It is certainly not the right place for a longer (or more exciting) stay in Abu Dhabi.
