Intercontinental Istanbul Review

About exactly 2 years ago I stayed at the Intercontinental Istanbul and wrote a review.
I went back last week and wanted to see what has changed.
The lobby looks like it has gotten a facelift and looks nicer with a new coffee shop now.
The guest rooms haven't changed much though - they are well maintained but really worn by now. The bathrooms are the worst offenders.
The (free) WiFi is fast but only if you sit right next to a router. It's really odd.
During my last visit I loved the pool and spa and they are still the same.
The best part of the hotel is the location - it's just a few minutes to Chihangir - one of my favorite neighborhoods in Istanbul and on the other side you can cross the Macka Parkl to go to Besiktas.
This time I had neither lounge access nor breakfast so I can't report back on any changes.
The views of course haven't changed and on a clear day (most of summer) the views are awesome!
While aging this is still my preferred base for exploring Istanbul. The Taksim area is on of the few in Istanbul that can be reached form anywhere in the city (Minibus or Airport Bus) and it's hard to beat the views and amenities of the hotel.
