Marriott SkyCity Hong Kong Review
The Marriott SkyCity Hong Kong Hotel is just 2 miles from Hong Kong airport. It's located on the same island and runs a free shuttle between the the airport and the hotel.
My flight with Cathay Pacific was fairly early in the morning - so I decided to 'splurge' for the Marriott SkyCity. It was just $130 for my stay. Rates are a bit higher for most of the season though.
I took the Cityflyer Bus to the airport and got to Bay 29/30 at Terminal 2 and wait for the shuttle bus. The ride from the terminal to the hotel takes just about five minutes.
Check-in was super crowded - apparently Cathay Pacific had just canceled a flight to Newark from Hong Kong. 300 people waited in line - good the hotel has 658 rooms available!
I pulled out my Ritz Carlton Credit card and marched confidently towards the Marriott Rewards Priority Check-in. To my surprise I was immediately able to check-in - and the whole process was done in 2 minutes.
The hotel has incredibly long floors with thick carpets. This is great for noise protection but makes it quite a trek pulling your carry-on just to get to your room.
The room was just ok - I was hoping for a view towards the runway but that was not meant to be.
The WiFi was fast but the room just functional - everything was working but well this is just an airport hotel after all.
I skipped breakfast in the morning and went straight to the bus which was a proper 80 seater coach - completely full - - lots of guests seemed to need a quick transfer to the airport that morning (the shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes).
