Hilton Garden Inn Montreal Review
The Hilton Garden Inn Montreal is located two blocks from the Montreal Contemporary Art Museum on the way to the Plateau - the neighborhood with some of the best food and drink options in Montreal. It is just on the edge of Downtown and has a supermarket, the Pikolo coffee shop and a few more excellent places just around the corner.
Check-in was friendly - I got a room on the 7th floor overlooking the busy road. Road noise was an issue and without earplugs it is hard to sleep through the night (and morning). The room was appointed well though. The whole hotel isn't the newest and you can see wear and tear. The room was very functional and both bed and shower did the trick for me.
I found the regular Internet to be slow since it was likely capped at 2 Mbit. Hilton (as other chains) are trying to keep up with the changes in Internet speed and availability. Free Internet is now very commonplace (irrespective of the booking channel) and fast Internet (10 Mbit+) is now so cheap to provide that most hotels rather throw it in for free than loose guests over it. The Hilton Garden Inn wasn't there yet and adhered to the Hilton policies.
As a Hilton Gold I got a breakfast voucher but the breakfast buffet was just terrible. None of the items looked enticing and I left right away.
While I usually like Hilton hotels this certainly wasn't my favorite stay. The location is good, the loud street and the awful breakfast and slow Internet make this a less than ideal choice for me.
Expect to pay around $150 Canadian for a night here. You can book it here.
