In order to drive up interest in travel again, some of the biggest airlines and hotel chains have been putting out interesting promotions and sales for their customers. Major airlines have also introduced some changes to their loyalty programs making it easier for passengers to earn and retain their elite status. Last week we saw American Airlines lowering elite status requirements and now Delta Airlines has announced a new status match campaign!

Delta Airlines Launches Status Match Campaign


Delta announced an elevated status match campaign if you have elite status with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, or United Airlines. This offer will be available for a limited amount of time and you will need to register by October 31, 2020. The matched status will be valid through March 31, 2021, and members have the option to fast track this campaign and keep the status until January 31, 2022. Members who qualify will receive complimentary Medallion Status one tier higher than their current status, which is a great offer from Delta. In order to enroll in the status match campaign, you will need your SkyMiles number and status documentation from an eligible carrier. You can enroll in this campaign here!

Members who want to fast track the status match campaign and keep the elite status until January 31, 2022, need to meet the following flight requirements by March 31, 2021:

-If you receive Gold Medallion Status: Fly 2 Qualifying Round Trips or 4 One Ways
-If you receive Platinum Medallion Status: Fly 4 Qualifying Round Trips or 8 One Ways
-If you receive Diamond Medallion Status: Fly 6 Qualifying Round Trips or 12 One Ways

To be matched with the Delta Gold Medallion you will need to be:

-Alaska Airlines MVP
-American Airlines Gold
-Southwest Airlines A-List
-United Airlines Premier Silver

To be matched with the Delta Platinum Medallion you will need to be:

-Alaska Airlines MVP Gold
-American Airlines Platinum
-JetBlue Mosaic
-Southwest Airlines A-List Preferred
-United Airlines Premier Gold

To be matched with the Delta Diamond Medallion you will need to be:

-Alaska Airlines MVP Gold 75k
-American Airlines Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro, Concierge Key
-United Airlines Premier Platinum, Premier 1K, Global Services

United Airlines Status Match Challenge


There is an ongoing United Airlines MileagePlus Premier Status Match Challenge for 2020. The Status Match challenge will be valid for requests received before December 31, 2020. To keep the matched Premier status through the end of the 2020 program year, you will need to earn a certain number of Premier qualifying flights (PQF) and Premier qualifying points (PQP) on flights operated by United before December 31, 2020.

PQF and PQP requirements:

-Silver: Fly 4 PQF and earn 1,000 PQP on flights operated by United or United Express
-Gold: Fly 6 PQF and earn 2,000 PQP on flights operated by United or United Express
-Platinum: Fly 10 PQF and earn 3,000 PQP on flights operated by United or United Express
